Progress Reports (Gr. 5-8): Progress reports for 3rd trimester will be available to view on the student/parent portal for grades 5-8 on Tuesday, May 6th.
Progress Reports (Gr. K-4): Progress reports, which were originally planned to go home on May 6th, will be sent out a bit later than expected. They will now be distributed after students complete their iReady testing.
This adjustment allows us to provide the most accurate and updated information on your child’s academic progress, taking into account their performance on the iReady diagnostic. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to ensure that all student data is complete and reflective of their current achievement levels.
We will notify you as soon as progress reports are ready to be sent home. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.
MCAS SCHEDULE: MCAS season is upon us. Our grades 3-8 students are participating in the state’s annual MCAS testing. This is still a very important assessment for our students and measures our progress as a school in comparison to other schools in our district and throughout the state of Massachusetts. Students’ participation in this test is of utmost importance.
Please find the link to the MCAS schedule below, where you can find out exactly when
your student(s) are scheduled to test.
THEME OF THE MONTH: With a new month beginning, we are going to be embracing a new theme, and the final theme for this school year. Throughout the month of May, we will be embracing the theme of EMPATHY. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Empathy is generally described as the ability to take on another person’s perspective, to understand, feel, and possibly share and respond to their experience. It is what it is like to walk in another person’s shoes. You can all demonstrate empathy by actively listening, validating others’ feelings, and using nonverbal cues like eye contact when having conversations with others. Staff will be on the lookout throughout this month for the students who best personify this theme.

Health
Grade 5 – Students are learning about the importance of hygiene and the healthy hygiene habits they should be practicing at this age. The hope is that parents/ guardians continue to support and encourage these habits at home to help reinforce the messages they are getting in health classes.
Grade 6 – This week, students are finishing a digital project where they created a first aid kit using their Google Slides skills and Canva. The project allowed students to better understand the various first aid items that would be important to have available to treat different first aid situations.
Grade 7 – Students have begun lessons on the male and female reproductive systems, learning the organs and functions of each system.
Grade 8 – Recent classes have focused on healthy vs unhealthy relationships and how to identify qualities that comprise a healthy relationship and how to recognize unhealthy relationships. Students also learned about teen dating violence from a video made by HHS students (on the VIP Team) years ago, which has over 2 million views on YouTube!!
